An Opportunity to Share with Others

Volunteer Definition:
A person who performs a services voluntarily and without the expectation of remuneration. Participants in the Quality Life Services' Volunteer Program are 15 years of age or older and assist at a time scheduled and planned by the Volunteer Coordinator in advance. These individuals are held to a high standard of professionalism and maturity and participate in the home's educational opportunities at the time of orientation and/or ongoing as dictated.

Special Helper Definition:
A person who assists with a specail event at a Quality Life Services' home without the expectation of remuneration. These individuals must be a minimum of 10 years old and have parental supervision throughout their volunteer experience.

Scholarship Opportunities
VolunPeer participants may be eligible for the Quality Life Services Scholarship through the Armstrong Community Foundation.
Eligibility requirements include:

*A minimum of 40 documented hours of VolunPeer work at the same Quality Life Services home in a school year (September - May)
*Pursuit of a health-related field of study in higher education

Any VolunPeer participant who is not eligible for the scholarship but completes the 40 hours of minimum VolunPeer work will earn:

*A certificate of recognition
*A $25.00 gift card to a local business
*Public recognition including, but not limited to, newspaper, signage at the home, announcement at his/her school's annual achievement assembly, etc.
*College reference / recommendation (as requested)
*Acknowledgement of completed volunteer hours (as required by schools, churches, Boy/Girl Scouts, community service commitments, etc.)
*Free meal if volunteering 4+ hours a day
